When I want to go to my happy place because my children are running around screaming and climbing on the furniture I go to the land where everyone sings and dances. Yes I love musicals. Probably because I cannot do either thing. I am in awe of someone who can both sing and dance. If they can also act then it’s the ultimate trifecta of talent. Lea Michele from Glee is one of those people who have the trifecta. Some of my all time favorite movie musicals/Broadway musicals are:

Bad TV Shows

There’s been a lot of bad tv shows that I never watched like Cop Rock and Cavemen. Then there are the ones that I did watch but didn’t tell anyone for fear of being ridiculed. Small Wonder was one of them. A show about a robot girl who no one but the people she lives with knows that she’s a robot. Vicki was the robots name. She talked like a robot walked like a robot how did people not know she was A ROBOT!! Alf, a fuzzy brown alien who liked to eat cats and was being kept hidden by a family. Charmed, three sisters who are witches and battle bad guys. I stopped watching after Shannen Doherty left. Dawson’s Creek, About teenagers on Cape Cod yet filmed mostly in North and South Carolina. I love you Dawson! I always wanted to be Joey. Xena Warrior Princess. Who didn’t want to be a kick ass princess with a best girlfriend sidekick who was slightly in love with you. Ghost Whisperer. The fun in watching that show is seeing what kind of billowy dress they are going to stick her in each week to show off her bosom friends. There’s probably so many more shows that I’ve watched that are horribly horrible. Just don’t hate me because I watched these but at least I admit it.

Loving the 80′s

When reminiscing about my childhood the Saturday morning cartoons were a big part of that. Nowadays you just turn on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network and it’s cartoons 24/7. Not so when growing up in the 80′s cartoons for me were just on Saturday mornings. I eagerly would wait all week for that magical time of sitting in my pajamas in front of the tv with a bowl of Froot Loops. Some of my favorites were Gummi Bears ( I still sing the theme song to), My Little Pony, The Getalong Gang, Ducktales, Dungeons and Dragons, Shirt Tales, The Pound Puppies, Ghostbusters, Muppet Babies, Scooby Doo (I still watch now with my boys), and a great show called Wildfire that was about a princess from a different world and a magical horse called Wildfire. Those were the good old days when cartoons were special.

Movie Vs Book

This is an ongoing battle. I always read the book first before I see the movie and maybe I shouldn’t do that anymore because I am constantly disappointed with the outcome. The book is always better than the movie. Take Lord of the Rings my all time favorite books. When I learned they were making the movies I was ecstatic! Then I saw Fellowship and I was totally dissatisfied. Arwen was not in the book and here she was parading around rescuing Frodo with her whispery elf voice. Blasphemy! How dare they change something that drastic! I don’t mind little changes. I didn’t mind the whole Tom Bombadil part not being in the movie. It was long enough even without it. The Harry Potter movies don’t do the books justice. But I still keep going to see them always hoping the next one will be better than the last. I love The Princess Bride the movie and the book. But they left so much out of the movie it feels incomplete. Now The Last Unicorn one of my favorite movies of all time it’s really one of the best book adaptions I’ve seen. I think the movie really captures the transformation from innocence and naivety to understanding and regret. I love the animation style. Such a great movie I could watch it over and over again. I just read The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Lovely Bones. I have not seen either movie but I’m not holding my breath that they even come close to the book. Someone find me a movie that really holds true to the book!

Super Mega D

I saw Alice in Wonderland today with my husband and son. Of course we had to see it in 3D. What’s up with this mega explosion of 3D movies? Is it just a fad or are we going to have every movie be in 3D? Can you imagine a Myley Cyrus movie in 3D, oh the horror! Are they going to try and go beyond 3D? 4D? You are in the middle of the movie it literally surrounds you. Hmm that would be kind of cool. The Hobbit in 4D! It practically feels like you are on the journey with Bilbo and Company! You can almost reach out and grab a piece of Smaug’s gold! How about one of those silly guy comedies that are popular right now in 4D? Funny People Knocked Up Sarah Marshal with a Pineapple Express whatever whatever in 4D! You get to feel as if you are wasted and somewhat whitty but without the hangover and you remember it the next day! And it was as funny as you remember! Why do those movies make guys look like bumbling idiots? Do guys really like to watch their own gender get beat upon over and over? I just googled 3D movies and there are like 60 3D movies coming out between now and 2012. Here is a blog that lists them.

Oscar Who?

I like watching the Oscars to see beautiful people parade by in ensembles that cost more than my house. I am not a fashion expert but I will pretend to be one. I loved Elizabeth Banks purpley grey shoulder baring ruffly dress. I also loved Sandra Bullocks golden goddess dress. I’m just so so on Jennifer Lopez’s pink monstrosity I think she knocked a few people over with it. I AM JLO MOVE OR MY DRESS WILL DESTROY YOU! I did not like Sarah Jessica Parker’s banana yellow potato sack dress. Myley Cyrus just looked awkward. The awards themselves were as usual long and boring. People won… people lost. I love my husband’s commentary “Christopher Plummer he’s still alive!?” The John Hughes commemoration was great showing all those movies I grew up watching The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I fell asleep right before my husband’s favorite part, clips of people who have passed away in the last year. My husband filled me in on who won what the next morning. He said James Cameron looked angry when he didn’t win best director or best picture. WHO’S KING OF THE WORLD NOW BUDDY!

I wonder if you can get whatever you want engraved on your statuette? Like-I AM AWESOME!

Boo!

I have always loved ghost stories and mysterious haunted houses. I read every book I could find about ghosts in grade school. My love for anything ghostly has not diminished. I now avidly watch Ghost Hunters on the Sci Fi channel. I love Grant and Jason! Two really normal guys who go into supposed haunted places to try to debunk the paranormal activity going on there. I could never do what they do. I would run screaming like my five-year old when I say bathtime at the first little noise I heard. I’m a big scaredy cat. I’m also watching an anime right now my friend Lanie told me to watch called Ghost Hunt about a young girl who joins a paranormal investigation team. As long as it’s not too gory I will watch it. I hate blood and guts I get queasy just thinking about it. I was very disturbed by Poltergeist when I was little. Kid eating trees ewww. I would like to get an old house someday that has some ghostly activity so I can have the TAPS team come and investigate. Here are some bloopers from Ghost Hunters.

Book on Phone

A friend of mine wanted me to read an ebook so I’m reading a book on my husband’s iphone. Is this really the wave of the future? I’m not sure I like it. I can’t tell how far I am in the book. There are no page numbers. It’s a little awkward to read because the phone is small. It feels weird to not have two hands to hold a book. The ipad may be better because it is bigger like a book should be. I do like how it holds the page that you were last on automatically. No using a bookmark or like I do folding the corner of the page down. I give reading an ebook 3 out of 5 stars. It could be that my kids will be going to school with some sort of ipad like thing instead of textbooks but I still like an old-fashioned book better. Especially when rereading my old favorites and seeing the chocolate stains on some of the pages. Books are like old friends even when you haven’t seen them for a while you can pick up right where you left off leaving you with a warm and contented feeling.

I ♥ Cute Boys

I’ve noticed that I tend to watch new shows that have cute boys in it. Such as Vampire Diaries. I wasn’t really interested in watching Twilight the TV show but that Damon, woo hoo! He’s hot, in a sexy bad boy kinda way. I haven’t watched a lot of episodes because I’m usually putting my kids to bed when it’s on. But I try to sneak a peek to see what naughtiness Damon is up to this week.

I also started watching Supernatural because of the two cute boys in it, Sam and Dean Winchester. It reminded of X Files which I loved. Each week the Winchester boys battling some sort of creature, ghost, monster, demon, evil thingy. I love Sam and Dean’s relationship and it’s downward spiral has been an ongoing theme. I really love how they make fun of the show within the show. An episode about the Sam and Dean fan club was really hilarious. I think the show has jumped the shark even though I still keep watching it. How many shows can you have about them battling demons and their inner demons. After I’m done watching my shows with cute boys I have three of my very own cute boys right here at my house. I love my cute boys!!

Food Glorious Food!

I’m not a big reality tv show fan. I’ve only watched the first Survivor and I’ve never seen Jersey Shore but I do like cooking reality shows. Iron Chef America is a favorite of mine, Ace of Cakes I’m a big fan of. I love watching any of Gordon Ramsay’s shows. I think he tries to come across as a hard ass but he’s got a heart of pure milk chocolate. mmmm chocolate…Anyone who knows me well knows about my lack of cooking skills. I can ruin my kids frozen waffles with just a look. I call myself domestically challenged. But to watch people who know how to cook and do it well impresses the heck out of me. The way they slice and dice without cutting a finger off and bake, panfry, fricassee, sear, braise and broil all types of food…. makes me really hungryyyy.
